The school year is coming to an end :-(

Dear Parents

As the school year draws to a close and we enter our final two weeks of school before the summer holiday, I would like to take this opportunity to inform you about what will happen in the week that lies ahead and the week that follows that. As we finish off our curriculum we will spend part of the day exploring different themes and the activities that we do each day will evolve around the theme for that day.

This week we will continue with school as usual as we finish off our work.

Monday, 20th - Game day (Your child may bring their favourite game to school, so that they can share the fun with their friends)

Tuesday, 21st - Water Fun (All students should pack a bag with the following things: their swim suits, sunglasses, caps, beach towels, water bottle, sunscreen, water gun, flip flops or sandals) If your child has a beach ball they may bring it as well, clearly marked with their name.

Wednesday, 22nd- Drive-In Movie day (We will make popcorn the old fashioned way.) We will end our year with a fun movie! If you would your child would like to bring their favourite DVD to school, please can you clearly mark it with their name so that we can return it to them at the end of the day. On Tuesday afternoon we will also have our end of year party, please join us from 13:30.

Thursday, 23rd - Clean up day and Picnic (We will be going to the track and spending time enjoying our snack.) This will replace your child’s normal snack so please can you pack your child a yummy snack as well as a drink. I won’t mind if your child brings some candy but please keep it in moderation

School will end after lunch on June 23rd. Buses will leave school at 1.00pm - non-bus children should also be collected from school at this time.

I will not be returning to HIS next year and it is with a sad heart that I say goodbye. I will be returning to the African continent to take up a teaching position at an International School in Luanda, Angola. During my time at HIS I have grown, been challenged, worked hard, played, and laughed. Thank you for the opportunity I have had to teach your child as well as learn from them. I will miss each one of them for very different reasons and will look back on my time at HIS with fond memories. I would like to thank Mrs Lines for including me in such a great school.

I am sure that your children will have a great last week of Grade 1. I am certainly looking forward to the week that lies ahead.
Ms Wood
