New Timetable - 1 October 2010


Please note that there has been a slight change to our class timetable. As Grade 1 had three specialty subjects on a Thursday we needed more time for core work; our Library period has now been moved to Fridays to help distribute the time more evenly

Week 5

Dear Parents,

We had a great week in Grade One this week. I would like to thank each of you for the time that you spend with your child doing their homework! First Grade students have done really well in their tests this week and I am super proud of them.

This week we covered the following:

English

· We practiced comprehension skills

· Lesson 1 – Nouns for People and Animals

· Lesson 2 – Nouns for Things and Places

· Lesson 3 – More Nouns


Reading

Week 4

Dear Parents,

I hope that you had a great Moon Festival! As a result of not having school on Wednesday, we covered a little less this week but still had a fun filled week of learning.

Week 3 of the school year has seen our students continuing to work well.

Spelling List 4 – Test Friday

· Extension spelling: root, flowers, spines, life cycle, seedlings, cones. These words will be tested but not counted as part of the grade


Dictation

· I met a friend and we got into the jet with our pet.

· Friday 24 September – Spelling Test and Dictation

· Friday 24 September - English Test – Unit 1, The sentence


Typhoon:

I am sure that you are aware that a typhoon is expected to pass through Taiwan over the weekend. Please check the news report on Sunday night to see whether or not school will be closed on Monday. We follow Hsinchu City School closure directives.
