Week 2


Dear Parents,

Thanks to all those who attended the Parent/Teacher Meeting last night, I enjoyed meeting you and hope that you found it interesting and informative.

This week we covered the following:


English

· What is a Sentence?

· Naming Part

· Action Part


Reading

· New words: go, cat, on, sat, the

· We read the following stories: On the GO!, Mac the Cat, and Pet Cats and Big Cats

· Beginning sounds m, s, c, t


Math

· Numbers 0 through 20

· Order 0 through 10

· Comparing 0 through 10

· Order 11 through 20

At home, please review what the numbers 0 – 20 look like and how we spell them.


Science

· We learnt the following vocabulary: roots, stems, leaves, flowers, seed, spines, life cycle, cone and seedlings.

· We had fun looking at the roots, stems, leaves and flowers through a hand lens.

· We learnt that different parts of the plant have different functions.

· And lastly we compared different leaves in terms shape, color and size

Thank you for helping your child with the “Stems in Action”. I hope that your child enjoyed the activity.


Journals

· We wrote about Pet Cats and Big Cats


Work due next week:

Spelling List 3 – Test Friday 17 September

· At, sat, cat, that, rat, it, bit, sit, flat

· Extension spelling: jump, school, teacher, read, sing, playground. These words will be tested but not counted as part of the grade


Dictation

· Run cat and sit flat on that rat!


Show and Tell

· A red object

· Monday 13 September – Money for workbooks, NT$100 (If it is still outstanding)

· Wednesday 15 September – Show and tell – A Red object

· Friday 17 September – Math Test - Chapter 1

Holiday Sign-up Forms

· Please find, below, the holiday celebrations that you have been assigned to. I tried my best to allocate each person at least one of their choices. I will contact you closer to the holiday to discuss it with you.

Workbook Money

The school ordered workbooks for your child to use in class, if you still haven’t sent the NT$100, please could you place the money in an envelope, marked with your child’s name, grade and “workbook money” to school by Monday 13 September.
